This medium was reliably intimated by officials of the Ministry of Finance (MOF), the Electricity Distribution Supply Authority (EDSA), and Management of Karpowership that there will be no cut-off in electricity supply by the latter to the capital city of Freetown on the 5th of July 2022, as it is been peddled on Social Media by some who have attributed the said impending shut down to Government’s non-payment of outstanding arrears in terms of payments to the Turkish business entity. The MOF, EDSA, and Karpowership indeed confirmed that “there will be no suspension of electricity supply on the 5th of July 2022”.
According to Senior officials of the Ministry of Finance, Karpowership will not shut down its operation going further to reveal how the issue of outstanding invoices or payment has been addressed by the Government of Sierra Leone.
MOF, MOE, EDSA, and Karpowership also disclosed to this medium that there is a very good working relationship among them all.
