APC Postpones Nationwide Constituency Elections to July 11

The National Secretariat of the All People’s Congress (APC) has announced the postponement of its constituency elections, rescheduling the nationwide exercise from Saturday, 4 July 2026, to Saturday, 11 July 2026. The decision was communicated in a public notice issued on Thursday, 2 July 2026, following consultations between the party’s lead ership and the Political Parties Regulation Commission (PPRC).

According to the APC, the decision was reached after a consultative meeting held at Tower Hill, Freetown, between the party’s leadership and the PPRC. The postponement also follows an Advisory Note issued by the PPRC on 2 July 2026. The party explained that the one-week deferment is intended to allow sufficient time to conclude outstanding internal engagements and administrative processes necessary for the successful conduct of the elections.

The APC emphasized that the postponement is in the collective interest of preserving transparency, credibility and unity within the party. It assured members, stakeholders, aspirants and the general public that the adjustment to the electoral timetable should not be interpreted as a setback but rather as a demonstration of the party’s commitment to conducting elections that are peaceful, credible, inclusive and reflective of democratic values.

Reassuring party supporters, the National Leadership stated that the postponement does not diminish its resolve to strengthen the APC’s internal democratic processes. Instead, it reaffirmed that every effort is being made to ensure the elections are conducted in a manner that commands the confidence and trust of members across the country.

The statement also acknowledged that the APC is navigating a challenging period but expressed confidence that the party would overcome its current difficulties through unity, discipline, patience and unwavering loyalty. It noted that the party has consistently emerged stronger whenever members have remained united behind a common purpose.

Calling for continued peace and cooperation, the APC urged all aspirants, delegates, members and party officials to remain calm, law-abiding and committed to the ideals of unity and mutual respect while preparations continue for the rescheduled elections. The leadership expressed optimism that the constituency elections would be successfully conducted on Saturday, 11 July 2026 and reaffirmed its confidence in the party’s collective strength and future.
