The National Communications Authority (NatCA) has reassured the public that it is closely monitoring the ongoing cybersecurity incidents affecting digital services across Sierra Leone, while working with key stakeholders to coordinate an effective national response.
In a public notice issued on 30 July 2026 from its headquarters at NatCA Tower, South Ridge, Freetown, the Authority said it is collaborating with relevant Government institutions, law enforcement agencies, licensed telecommunications operators and other stakeholders to address the evolving cybersecurity challenges.
As the regulator of Sierra Leone’s electronic communications sector, NatCA reaffirmed its commitment to protecting the country’s digital communications infrastructure by ensuring its security, resilience and integrity. The Authority emphasized that safeguarding critical digital systems remains a top priority as cybersecurity threats continue to evolve.
NatCA also called on all communications service providers and digital platforms to strengthen their cybersecurity frameworks by implementing robust security measures, promptly reporting cyber incidents and complying with established security standards. According to the Authority, proactive cooperation among industry players is essential to mitigating cyber risks and protecting digital services across the country.
The regulator further appealed to the public to remain alert and adopt safe online practices to reduce exposure to cyber threats. It advised citizens to avoid clicking suspicious links or responding to questionable messages, safeguard personal information and enable multi-factor authentication on their online accounts wherever available.
Describing cybersecurity as a shared responsibility, NatCA assured the public that it will continue to monitor developments and provide timely updates through its official communication channels. The Authority also pledged to maintain close collaboration with Government agencies, industry stakeholders and law enforcement institutions to strengthen Sierra Leone’s cyber resilience and ensure the continued security of the nation’s digital ecosystem.
