President of the Republic of Sierra Leone and Leader of the Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP), Julius Maada Bio, alongside First Lady Fatima Maada Bio, on Thursday, May 14, 2026, officially commissioned the Sierra Leone People’s Party District Office in Koidu City, Kono District, named the Amina Maada Bio Hall, describing it as a strong symbol of unity, loyalty and the growing political strength of the ruling party in the district.
The commissioning ceremony attracted party executives, traditional authorities, youth and women’s groups, as well as hundreds of SLPP members and supporters from across Kono District, transforming the event into a remarkable display of political solidarity and grassroots mobilization.
Addressing supporters during the ceremony, President Julius Maada Bio emphasized that unity, discipline and loyalty remain the bedrock of the SLPP’s continued growth and success. He urged party members to place the interests of the party and national development above personal ambitions and internal divisions, stressing that the strength of the SLPP has always been rooted in its close connection with ordinary citizens and its commitment to delivering development across Sierra Leone.
President Bio described the newly inaugurated office as more than just a physical structure, noting that it symbolizes the consolidation of the SLPP’s presence in Kono District and reflects the party’s readiness to strengthen political engagement ahead of future national political contests. He said the facility would serve as a strategic hub for party coordination, mobilizations and community engagement within the district.
The President particularly commended First Lady Dr. Fatima Maada Bio for spearheading the construction of the party office, describing her efforts as a demonstration of commitment to strengthening the party’s structures at the grassroots level.
President Julius Maada Bio also used the occasion to caution party members with flagbearer ambitions to remain focused on consolidating the gains of the Government. He reminded aspirants that the most meaningful way to advance collective ambitions is through unwavering commitment to fulfilling promises made to the people, emphasizing unity, hard work and dedicated service as the foundation for the party’s future success.
Speaking at the event, First Lady Dr. Fatima Maada Bio praised supporters in Kono District for their unwavering loyalty and commitment to the SLPP, while calling for sustained peace, togetherness and dedication to the party’s vision. She encouraged women and young people to remain active and united in promoting the growth, stability and success of the party.
Also addressing supporters, SLPP National Chairman, Jimmy Batilo Songa, expressed appreciation to President Julius Maada Bio for what he described as transformational development projects implemented in Kono District. He highlighted the construction of a modern hospital and university, noting that such developments have positioned Kono as a growing destination attracting both Sierra Leoneans and international visitors.
The commissioning ceremony concluded with renewed calls for party unity and solidarity, as supporters reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening the SLPP’s political influence in Kono District and across Sierra Leone.
