Youth Minister Inspires Gamers at Orange Esport Experience Finale

Freetown came alive on Friday, 30th May 2025, as Minister of Youth Affairs, Ibrahim Sannoh graced the grand finale of the Orange Esport Experience: University Tournament SL 2025 with his enthusiastic presence. The event gathered Sierra Leone’s top university gamers for a thrilling competition marked by skill, strategy, and digital creativity.

Participants from prestigious institutions including Fourah Bay College, Institute of Public Administration and Management, Njala University, University of Makeni, Canadian College, and Milton Margai Technical University showcased their talents and competitive spirit.

Minister Sannoh immediately connected with the vibrant crowd by revealing his own passion for gaming and sharing that he often relaxes with his PlayStation 5. His candidness sparked excitement and encouraged the youth to see gaming as more than entertainment but as a platform for growth and opportunity.

He applauded Orange Sierra Leone and its partners for creating a space that nurtures young talent and empowers the next generation. He emphasized that esports is a rapidly expanding global industry that promotes innovation, creates jobs, and builds community among young people.

“Youth of Sierra Leone are proving they can compete and succeed on the digital front,” Minister Sannoh stated. “The skills you acquire here teamwork, problem-solving, and resilience will benefit you far beyond the screen.” He urged the young competitors to embrace digital technology as a key driver for national development while balancing their enthusiasm with focus and purpose. “This tournament is not just a game; it is a testament to the power of youth, creativity, and the future of technology.”

The Orange Esport Experience stands as a pioneering initiative within Sierra Leone’s digital landscape, offering university students a unique opportunity to demonstrate their gaming expertise and explore careers in technology, software development, and design.
