The newly appointed Deputy Director General of the National Social Security and Insurance Trust (NASSIT), Mohamed Orman Bangura, has paid glowing tribute to the outgoing Director General, Mohamed Fuaad Daboh, praising his exceptional leadership, dedication and transformational reforms that have strengthened the institution and positioned it among the leading social security organizations in the sub-region.
Mohamed Orman Bangura, who assumes responsibility for Administration and Finance, made the remarks during a nationwide training programme on NASSIT’s newly introduced Pension Administration System (PAS), an initiative designed to modernize the Trust’s operations and improve service delivery to contributors and beneficiaries.
The training, conducted simultaneously at NASSIT Headquarters in Freetown and all regional offices, was facilitated by senior Management alongside the Pension Administration System technical team. The programme forms part of the Trust’s ongoing digital transformation strategy aimed at enhancing operational efficiency, improving customer service and ensuring greater transparency in pension administration.
Addressing members of staff at the Headquarters, outgoing Director General, Mohamed Fuaad Daboh, described the Pension Administration System as one of the most significant technological innovations introduced by the Trust. He explained that the system integrates every aspect of NASSIT’s core operations, including member registration, contribution collection, benefit processing, record management and reporting.
According to him, the modern platform is expected to streamline operational procedures, reduce delays in service delivery, strengthen data management and significantly improve the overall experience of both staff and members.
“The Pension Administration System is more than just software; it represents the future of how we serve our members,” Mohamed Fuaad Daboh stated.
He encouraged staff to actively participate in the training programme, stressing that the success of the new system depends largely on their commitment, professionalism and willingness to embrace change.
“We are investing in this system and, most importantly, in you. Your commitment will determine how successful this change will be,” he said.
Mohamed Fuaad Daboh further urged employees to remain committed to serving the Trust with diligence and integrity, noting that their dedication would not only strengthen the institution but also secure their own future through the social security system they help administer.
Reflecting on his retirement, he expressed confidence that the Pension Administration System would continue to transform the organization long after his departure.
“As I proceed on retirement, I am confident that this new system will play a key role in transforming our way of doing business. We owe this to ourselves and our country,” he remarked.
Speaking during the programme, Mohamed Orman Bangura commended the outgoing Director General for providing visionary leadership that has elevated NASSIT into one of Sierra Leone’s most respected public institutions.
He noted that under Mohamed Fuaad Daboh’s stewardship, the Trust recorded remarkable achievements that have strengthened institutional efficiency, improved financial sustainability and enhanced public confidence in the Scheme.
Among the accomplishments highlighted were the improvement of internal work processes, the prompt payment of retirement benefits to pensioners and other beneficiaries, increased compliance among employers and employees, and the successful implementation of reforms that have modernized the institution’s operations.
Mohamed Orman Bangura also described the Pension Administration System as one of the outgoing Director General’s most significant achievements, saying the innovation has laid a solid foundation for the future growth and modernization of the Trust.
According to him, the new digital platform has improved data integrity, enhanced operational efficiency and significantly strengthened customer satisfaction while reinforcing public confidence in NASSIT.
“The outgoing Director General leaves behind a legacy of reforms and stability. The systems he championed will continue to serve the Scheme for many years to come,” Mohamed Orman Bangura stated.
The newly appointed Deputy Director General further called on all staff members to remain committed throughout the training programme and to apply the knowledge gained in their daily responsibilities.
He reminded employees that serving NASSIT extends beyond public service, emphasizing that every effort they make contributes directly to strengthening their own future social security.
“Serving NASSIT is not just serving one’s country, but serving oneself. Every contribution you make today is a contribution to your own future social security,” he emphasized.
Mohamed Orman Bangura described Mohamed Fuaad Daboh as a living example of the success of Sierra Leone’s social security system, noting that after years of dedicated service, he now transitions into retirement as one of the beneficiaries of the very institution he helped transform.
He said the outgoing Director General’s journey demonstrates the importance of building a resilient and sustainable pension system capable of protecting workers throughout their careers and into retirement.
Concluding his remarks, Mohamed Orman Bangura assured the Board, Management, staff, contributors and beneficiaries of his unwavering commitment to serving NASSIT with integrity, accountability and professionalism.
