RC BRAND 42.5 R Cement Gains Momentum as ROCKCEM Strengthens Local Production

ROCKCEM (SL) Ltd is expanding its cement processing and distribution operations in Sierra Leone, positioning its RC BRAND CEM II 42.5 R Cement to meet growing demand for construction materials across the country while improving accessibility for contractors, wholesalers, retailers and individual builders.

The company’s expansion comes amid increasing demand for cement in residential construction, commercial developments and infrastructure projects, where reliable supplies remain essential for maintaining construction schedules and controlling costs.

At the centre of ROCKCEM’s operations is RC BRAND CEM II 42.5 R Cement, which the company promotes as a dependable construction material designed to provide strength, durability and consistent performance for various building applications.

To strengthen its position in Sierra Leone’s cement market, ROCKCEM is undertaking major investments in modern processing equipment, warehousing facilities and transportation infrastructure.

A significant component of the development is a modern cement grinding mill designed to produce more than 60,000 bags of cement, weighing 50 kilograms each, daily.

According to the company, its total planned investment has increased to approximately US$60 million, reflecting rising equipment costs, inflation, changes in global economic conditions and the expansion of its industrial operations.

The investment is intended to strengthen local cement processing capacity, improve supply reliability and support the country’s construction industry through expanded distribution arrangements.

Another important development is the construction of a modern warehouse at Sumbuya in Songo, which is nearing completion and expected to commence operations in November 2026.

The facility will serve as an additional distribution centre for RC BRAND CEM II 42.5 R Cement, enabling provincial customers to obtain supplies without undertaking lengthy journeys to Freetown.

For wholesalers and retailers operating outside the capital, the warehouse could significantly reduce transportation expenses, fuel consumption and repeated toll-gate payments.

Depending on their locations, some provincial customers travelling to Songo may need to cross only the Masiaka Toll Gate, potentially reducing logistics costs and improving business efficiency.

The development is also expected to facilitate quicker stock replenishment, allowing cement dealers to respond more effectively to customer demand.

Complementing its expanding distribution network, ROCKCEM has assembled approximately 50 vehicles to support cement transportation and direct deliveries to customers nationwide.

The company’s investment in transportation infrastructure is aimed at improving delivery efficiency and ensuring that RC BRAND Cement reaches construction sites and retail outlets more conveniently.

Beyond cement availability, the expansion could create additional opportunities in transportation, engineering, equipment maintenance, warehousing and related services.

ROCKCEM maintains that product quality, customer satisfaction and dependable distribution remain central to its strategy for building a competitive presence in Sierra Leone’s construction materials market.

The company is seeking to establish RC BRAND CEM II 42.5 R Cement as a recognised product among contractors, developers and individual builders requiring consistent cement supplies.

With its expanding processing capacity, delivery fleet and anticipated Songo warehouse operations, ROCKCEM is working to improve cement accessibility across Sierra Leone.

Operating from 13B Bai Bureh Road, Texaco, Old Road, Freetown, the company promotes RC BRAND Cement under the message “Build Stronger. Build to Last.”
