Addressing Oil Marketing Companies… VP Juldeh Jalloh Reveals Govt’s Consideration to Subsidize Fuel Pump Price

Vice President Dr Mohamed Juldeh Jalloh has on the 21stMarch 2022  met with representatives of oil/petroleum marketing companies in the country, at his Tower Hill Office, to reason with them to make petroleum products available to the public within the stipulated prices.

Also in attendance were the Petroleum Regulatory Agency (PRA) Chief Executive, Dr Brima Baluwa Koroma, representatives of the Office of National Security (ONS), the Secretary to Vice President Barba Fortune and other Government functionaries.

The Vice President informed all those present that there is the need to take stock of the stabilization measures rolled out last week in light of the global fuel disruptions caused by the current crises in Ukraine.

He furthered how the Government will continue to support the OMC to secure products and enhance fuel stock, including subsidizing pump price and establishing a fuel fund to guarantee access to necessary foreign exchange to buy products.

According to him the Government of Sierra Leone, through the leadership of President Maada Bio, would consider subsidizing fuel pump price and as well establishing a fuel fund to guarantee access to necessary Foreign Exchange to buy product.
