BlueCrest Established to Make Sierra Leone Independent & Powerful

BlueCrest, a technologically advanced university, with campuses in Ghana and Liberia, is making sure that technology in Sierra Leone is highly valued and given priority in all areas of its programs.

BlueCrest, according to its Rector and Principal, Dr. Shailesh Kumar aims to graduate students who are expansive, creative thinkers, and most importantly, capable enough to compete in the global marketplace.

He added that, “because the institution favors fostering job creators rather than job seekers, our educational philosophies center on leadership, innovation, technology, and entrepreneurship. The ultimate goal is to graduate students who can generate an increasing number of jobs to make Sierra Leone independent and powerful.”

In February, 2014 BlueCrest College was established as a high-tech Centre of Excellence in Sierra Leone. The mandate of the College was to carry out scientific, technological, management, professional, vocational and skill development courses to benefit the youth of Sierra Leone.

In April 2015, The National Council for Technical, Vocational and Other Academic Awards (NCTVA) of the Republic of Sierra Leone granted accreditation to BlueCrest College in respect of Diplomas and Higher/ Advanced Diplomas programs.

In 2019 BlueCrest officially opened its School of Fashion & Design with Professional Certificate in Garment Construction and also got affiliated with the Institute of Public Administration and Management (IPAM) – University of Sierra Leone (USL).

BlueCrest College Sierra Leone (BCCSL) Rector and Principal, in an interview said, “We are living in a digitized, globalized world where life is full of challenges and opportunities. We at BlueCrest College, welcome this scenario and are committed to enthusing our students with the right mix of knowledge and conviction to deliver what the industry expects from them. It is to meet the growing needs of the industry that BlueCrest has integrated extensive hands-on training and problem-solving skills, equipped with an excellent learning environment, as part of our Training Methodology. The students are kept abreast of the developments and trends in the Information Technology (IT), Software Engineering, Information Technology Management, Fashion Design, Garment Construction, Graphic Design, Multimedia Tools and Financial Technologies.”

BlueCrestCollege is accredited by the Tertiary Education Commission (TEC) and the National Council for Technical Vocational and other Academic Awards (NCTVA) of Sierra Leone.

The College is affiliated with Institute of Public Administration and Management (IPAM)-University of Sierra Leone (USL) to offer B.Sc. Information Technology (IT) & B.Sc. Information Systems (IS).BlueCrest has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Milton Margai Technical University (MMTU) for promoting shared interests in Computer Science, Information Technology, Fashion Design & Garment Construction and General Technical Vocations Studies.
