Chozen Generation SL Spotlights Exceptional Achievements & Top 9 Outstanding Citizens

Chozen Generation Sierra Leone (CGSL), on December 11, 2023,   proudly unveiled exceptional individuals recognized as the “Ten Most Outstanding Sierra Leoneans” for 2022. In a testament to their unwavering dedication, nine remarkable individuals emerged as beacons of inspiration, embodying resilience and commitment towards fostering positive change within Sierra Leone.

The announcement, although initially intended for ten recipients, included nine remarkable Sierra Leoneans who utilized their expertise, businesses, or crafts to elevate their nation’s image and instigate impactful change throughout 2022. The selection process commenced with public nominations, followed by a rigorous assessment by a panel of seven professionals representing diverse sectors. These experts meticulously evaluated nominees based on criteria such as their leadership track record, patriotism, accomplishments in 2022, national impact and suitability for the award.

The final roster comprises a diverse array of professionals encompassing entrepreneurs, medical practitioners, religious leaders, philanthropists, and an entertainer, collectively showcasing a multifaceted representation of Sierra Leone’s outstanding talent.

CGSL’s National Coordinator, Harry Henry Kargbo, conveyed heartfelt congratulations to the awardees, emphasizing the significance of this recognition. “Being acknowledged as one of the most outstanding Sierra Leoneans is an immense honor. Despite the challenges of 2022, these individuals showcased unparalleled dedication within their respective domains, leaving an indelible mark on society. CGSL seeks to ensure that these exceptional individuals are not only seen but also celebrated for their remarkable contributions within and beyond Sierra Leone,” he revealed.

The recipients of the “Ten Most Outstanding Sierra Leoneans for 2022,” in alphabetical order wre:

1. Abimbola Carol – Entrepreneur, recognized for her pivotal role in boosting Sierra Leone’s tourism sector through the Visit Sierra Leone company and facilitating the Budafest-Bamako Rally in Salone.

2. Edleen Elba – Entrepreneur, lauded for her initiatives in fostering the professional growth of young individuals via her Job Search platform.

3. Dr. John Lavalie – Medical Doctor, acknowledged for his unwavering commitment to saving lives, particularly through vital surgeries conducted under the Sick Pikin project.

4. Rev. Father Peter Conteh – Religious Leader/NGO, honored for his selfless dedication to humanitarian projects undertaken by Caritas Freetown.

5. Sheik Abdul Rahman Tejan Bangura – Religious Leader, commended for his philanthropic endeavors and tireless service to humanity.

6. Tamba Mathew Gbessay – School Proprietor, recognized for his steadfast support towards disabled children, notably establishing a School for the Blind in Kono.

7. Thomas Babadi Kamara – Entrepreneur, acknowledged for his significant contributions to Sierra Leonean football, highlighted by the construction of the international standard mini stadium – Southern Arena in Bo.

8. Tunde Cole – Entrepreneur, acclaimed for his invaluable contribution to education through the donation of a new building to Fourah Bay College, University of Sierra Leone.

9. Usifu Jalloh – Entertainment/Storyteller, celebrated for his commitment to preserving African culture through storytelling, notably collaborating with the Patriotic Advocacy Network to conduct a nationwide storytelling festival.

About the Ten Most Outstanding Awards
The “Ten Most Outstanding Sierra Leonean Award” presented by Chozen Generation Sierra Leone is a prestigious accolade honoring individuals who have significantly elevated the nation’s reputation or made substantial contributions to their communities during the preceding year.
