Government Confirms DJ Boxx’s Arrest in Guinea Linked to November 26th Coup Attempt

In a recent development, the Ministry of Information and Civic Education has officially verified the arrest of Abubakarr Boxx Konteh, commonly known as DJ Boxx, for his purported involvement in the failed coup attempt on November 26th. The arrest was made on March 23, 2024, in Guinea, where he had been evading authorities.

DJ Boxx, also serving as the North-West Regional Organizing Secretary of the opposition All People’s Congress (APC) party, was apprehended at the Guinea airport as he attempted to flee to Senegal. The joint operation conducted by Guinean authorities and Sierra Leone security forces successfully intercepted him, suspected of providing crucial support in the planning, execution and subsequent escape of individuals involved in the coup attempt.

Additionally, he faces allegations of participating in illicit activities, including the trafficking of dangerous substances such as Kush within Sierra Leone. He is slated to be extradited to Sierra Leone for thorough interrogation by the national police.

The Ministry says the Government expresses gratitude to Guinean authorities for their collaborative efforts in maintaining regional security adding that citizens are encouraged to continue providing any pertinent information to aid the ongoing efforts of the Sierra Leone Police.
