Traditional leaders and police officers deployed at Mile 91 in the Yonibana Chiefdom, Tonkolili district have on April 20th 2019, declared one Ibrahim Sesay wanted for undermining the laws of the secret poro society in the community.
Ibrahim Sessy who also hails from Yonibana Chiefdom is nowhere to be seen after his life came under threat by the society members.
Sources close to the leaders state that on March 25th 2019, Ibrahim went to Mawor Village with his son Junior Kabba Sesay to see his sick father. Unfortunately his father died few days after his arrival in the village.
As a gay person, Ibrahim decided to clean his father’s room where he discovered a bag wrapped in red and black cloth. The poro members accused Ibrahim of exposing the society as the said bag contains properties belonging to the society and that only society members should torch or see it.
He was reported to the Town Chief Pa Santigie Kamara who immediately ordered his arrest for violating their traditional rites and culture.
On arrival at the residence of Chief Pa Santigie, Ibrahim met hundreds of society members chanting songs that he has committed serious offence and that he should be dealt with according to their traditional laws. The elders claimed that Ibrahim has no right to clean his father’s room without their consent and approval because of the presence of the bag in that room.
Following directives from the Chief, Ibrahim was forcefully dragged to the society bush where he was tied with rope to a big stick while awaiting his fate.
Sources say the people used non serialized knife to initiate Ibrahim’s son who profused blood until he died few hours later.
While undergoing such pain, the people gave him blood put in a calabash to drink but he refused.
The calabash later fell on the ground which prompted the members to begin to torture him for disobeying their orders.
His childhood friend Osman Gbla came to the bush to rescue Ibrahim after realizing that his colleagues have vowed to kill him that night. Osman succeeded in removing Ibrahim from the society bush to the highway.
At the highway, a truck driver Mohamed Sankoh saw the helpless Ibrahim lying on the floor unconscious and took him to an unknown destination.
Society members then stormed the residence of Ibrahim and threatened to kill his sister Aminata Sessy if they did not show the whereabout of Ibrahim.
What makes the situation more complex was when they search his room and discovered sexy pictures of Ibrahim and his gay partner Aron Maxx and phonographic videos in a CD plate.
The report states that after attempt to arrest Ibrahim failed, the elders reported him for practicing gay related activities to the police in Mile 91 who later declared him wanted on April 17th 2019. A senior police officer confided in this medium that they have declared Ibrahim Sesay wanted for practising gay and lesbian activities contrary to the laws governing the country and for also failing to respond to police invitation.
The police officer revealed that they are also looking out for Ibrahim’s gay partner Aron Mexx.
A legal luminary Sullay Mansaray told this medium last night that with such evidences provided against Ibrahim Sesay, if he is arrested and charged to court and found guilty for offences related to gay, bisexual and lesbianism he will go for life imprisonment with hard labour.
