In a noteworthy act of compassion, Krisrefell Foundation, a charitable organization with a decade-long history, has generously donated food condiments to Browne Penn Special School, the sole Autism School in Sierra Leone. The donation took place on Saturday, March 30th, 2024, at the school compound nestled in the mountainous region of Kossoh Town, located in the East End of Freetown.
Mamoud Konta Jalloh, the Organizing Secretary of Krisrefell Foundation, provided insights into the Foundation’s background and highlighted the significance of the donated items. He emphasized that Krisrefell Foundation has been dedicated to providing assistance to various organizations across the country for the past ten years.
Phebian Refell, co-founder of Krisrefell Foundation, echoed similar sentiments, expressing that the Foundation’s establishment stemmed from a desire to extend a helping hand to those in need. She shared that her longstanding commitment to assisting others inspired the establishment of Krisrefell Foundation, emphasizing the importance of continuing to support those in need.
During the donation ceremony, Phebian highlighted the variety of food items donated to Browne Penn Special School, emphasizing that they were sourced from the collective savings of the Foundation members. She expressed hope that the donation would enable the school to continue providing meals for its pupils and called upon humanitarian organizations and individuals to support their cause.
Phebian also took the opportunity to engage with the pupils at the school, offering words of encouragement and empowerment. She reassured them that they are valuable members of society and capable of achieving great things.
Mary Petiminty, Board Chairman of the Sierra Leone Autism Society and a key stakeholder of Browne Penn School, expressed heartfelt gratitude to Krisrefell Foundation for their generous donation. She emphasized the significant impact the donation would have in ensuring that no child at the school goes without a meal. Mary also highlighted some of the challenges faced by the school, particularly regarding transportation and appealed for further assistance from humanitarian organizations.
The donation ceremony concluded with members of Krisrefell Foundation being given a guided tour of the school facilities, followed by group photos to commemorate the occasion. This gesture by Krisrefell Foundation underscores the importance of community support and solidarity in making a positive difference in the lives of vulnerable individuals.
