Leone Rock Metal Group (LRMG), through its Community Department, recently convened a high-level engagement with key stakeholders in Constituency 074, Lokomasama and Kamasondo Chiefdom in Port Loko District. The interactive session aimed to provide updates on three major community development projects and reinforce the company’s commitment to transparency and sustainable progress.
The event was graced by two Members of Parliament representing the constituency, the Regent Chief, prominent stakeholders and youth representatives from Kamasondo Chiefdom. During the discussions, LRMG reaffirmed its dedication to completing three vital projects within the next six months, namely: the construction of the Pepel Community Center, SLMB Primary School and the town field. These initiatives are expected to significantly enhance community infrastructure and improve residents’ quality of life.
As a responsible mining entity, LRMG prioritizes community involvement and engagement, ensuring that residents are well-informed about ongoing and upcoming initiatives aimed at addressing their needs. This platform fostered open dialogue, underscoring the company’s commitment to sustainable development within its operational areas.
In a further demonstration of its community-oriented approach, LRMG recognized and rewarded local efforts towards environmental sustainability. As part of this commitment, the company presented 30,000 NLe to women who actively participated in a recent township cleaning exercise in Pepel. This initiative was aimed at encouraging continued community participation in environmental sanitation and fostering a culture of cleanliness and responsibility.
Alhaji Mohamed Turay, LRMG’s Manager for Community and Security Affairs, provided additional insights into the company’s long-term development plans. He highlighted the broader strategy for fostering sustainable growth and strengthening collaboration with local stakeholders.
