The Mariama Sannoh Breast & Pancreatic Cancer Foundation was on the 22nd February, 2023 launched, with its website, in Arizona, United States of America by the late women’s only daughter, Isatta Magona and other members of the team. According to Isatta, the Project is dear and near to her as she lost her mother in the USA to breast and pancreatic cancer. “It was the hardest moment to me and some days are still hard,” she intimated adding how she created the non-profit organization to help the less privileged cancer victims and survivors in Sierra Leone, West Africa from where she hails from.
Isatta is soliciting donations from well meaning individuals and institutions to help the Foundation fulfill its main objective of giving solace to victims and survivors. She is sharing videos and pictures related to the cause via: https://www.mariamasannohfoundation.org/
She is also looking forward to dedicated volunteers to help with the charity work
As Head of the Foundation she intimated how the Mariama Sannoh Foundation has sponsored cancer victims with nutrition and counseling. She said they would like to continue such sponsorship as mostly after treatment or surgery there is nutrition change for cnacer victims. “Due to lack of access to proper nutrition, cancer victims in Kenema, Eastern Sierra Leone, lack the necessary nutrients they need for recovery,” she highlighted furthering how they would also like to provide onsite counselling and discussions via their podcast from doctors, nurses and other cancer survivors in order to offer hope for patients and their families.
She also mentioned the provision of sponsorship of cancer training for hospital staff, sponsorship of surgical equipments, sponsorship of oncology drugs, , diagnostic processes among others as activities that the Foundation will undertake.
Isatta Magona reiterated her passion to reach out to the needy in this category and pointed out that cancer can happen to anyone regardless of race which is why it is important to support such a good cause to help cancer victims in dire need.
