Miksi Chocolate, one of the brands marketed by Premium Divine Trading Company Limited, a food distribution company that operates as an agent for Promasidor Holdings, a leading distributor of quality food products in Sierra Leone, has been commended as one of the best healthy beverages that gives nourishment by many older persons who joined the rest of the world to commemorate the International Day of Older Persons in Freetown, Sierra Leone.
On Friday 1st October, 2021 the Premium Divine Trading Company Ltd in partnership with Residential Elderly Care Foundation joined the world to commemorate this year’s International Day of Older Persons at an impactful event held at the Joint Communications Unit at Wilberforce Bar-racks in Freetown.
Premium Divine Trading Company Limited ’s partnership with Residential Elderly Care Foundation in this year’s commemoration of the International Day of Older Persons, was to enable the company continue on its massive education on healthy eating habits by availing the product to actual and potential consumers of chocolate, the Miksi nutritious package to enable them and their families to enjoy good nutrition through the consumption of Miksi chocolate drink that were sampled during the commemoration on the day.
In addition, the company also donated 140 cartons of Miksi chocolate to the Residential Elderly Care Foundation which was further distributed to the Aged and their families who were present at the event.
Speaking on behalf of the company, the Marketing Executive of Premium
Divine Trading Ltd, Isha Bangura, disclosed that the International Day of Older Persons, is celebrated on October 1 each year to create
awareness about mental and physical health issues affecting the elderly and the abuses they face in their daily lives.
She intimated that Premium Divine Trading, as a responsible company,
thought it fit to partner with Residential Elderly Care Foundation during this year’s commemoration in order to create awareness about
mental and physical health issues affecting older people.
The Marketing Executive further revealed that Miksi brand consists of Miksi powdered milk, Miksi chocolate and Miksi Coffee of which she encouraged older persons to add Miksi as part of their daily food intake adding that Miksi offers a healthy beverage or snack anyway anytime.
Ms Isha Bangura, added that Premium Divine Trading Company Ltd also distributes and markets, Onga, Xploza, Kremela and Yumvita , the latter being an infant cereal with milk also consisting of wheat, rice and maize and wheat variants.
She concluded by appealing to all to always buy the quality food products of Premium Divine Trading Company Ltd especially Miksi chocolate and Miksi Coffee because they are enriched with all the necessary nutrients needed by the body.
On his part, Administrative Manager/Founder of Residential Elderly Care Foundation, Karifa Thoronka, commended Premium Divine Trading Company Ltd for the support given to them to commemorate the International Day of Older Persons.
He said that their Foundation is a grass root Charity organization which is applying a holistic approach to support weak and old people in their resi-dences within poor communities in Sierra Leone, adding that they work to give these people better standards of living by offering support to them in order to enable them have a renewable life through grants, donations and sponsorship.
Karifa Thoronka stated that through what they have been generating they had been help them to provide basic needs to these vulnerable set of people ranging from food, clothes, and medical care for older People within the country.
He revealed that in October 2020 their charity Foundation embarked on a household survey as a way of identifying the older people that are vulnerable, and to know their urgent needs and that the aim of the survey was to prevent giving the beneficiaries what they do not need.
Underscoring the Vision of the Foundation, he said, they want a society where elders are healthy, happy, and socially integrated with the aim to contribute to the building of a society in which people are encouraged and enabled to age productively and with dignity.
The Founder/CEO of Dorwontony Organization for the Aged, Dorren Barrie, applauded Residential Elderly Care Foundation for the support they have been giving to the Aged in the country, stating that her organization also serves as the voice to advocate for the needs and rights of the Aged across the country.
She disclosed that “Digital Equity for All Ages” is the theme for this year’s International Day of Older Persons and that the theme stresses the need for the elderly to receive access to the digital world and help them become ac-tive participants to enrich their lives.
She ended by saying that old people should not be considered as liabilities to society but rather should be given the care they deserve as they are the backbone to any peaceful society.
Beneficiaries who witnessed the event commended the partnership with Premium Divine Trading Company Ltd saying it was a laudable move it undertook as it commits to support the older persons in the country.
They noted that for far too long they have been neglected by society but said the Residential Elderly Care Foundation and Premium Divine Trading Company Ltd has manifested that there are still organizations that do care about older persons in the country.
The event was climaxed by the distribution of the donated Miksi Chocolate Drink and tea cups to the older persons present during the ceremony.
