In his End of Year Message, the Managing Director of the Rokel Commercial Bank, Dr. Walton Ekundayo Gilpin, stated that since millenia, the New Year always comes with hopes and expectations, the hope for a new beginning and the expectations that our dreams and aspirations would translate into solid achievements through hard work and God’s blessings.

“Compatriots, another year is upon us,” MD Gilpin said ,as if reminding folks who have forgotten, stating while the promise of a new dawn may depend on how hard they work to expand and modernize the banking system, they are confident that the steps they took in 2021 have placed them on higher pedestal to compete and dominate the financial market in Sierra Leone. He therefore, admonished that their faith in the Almighty must remain so strong that the most turbulent of ‘weather’ won’t rock their boat.

“In recent years, we have remained a resilient bank – exceeding expectations with an enviable growth trajectory in the midst of a global pandemic,” he said with pride adding how for the very first time in several decades, RCbank has been able to pay dividend to its prudential and private shareholders maintaining how  such a remarkable feat cannot be achieved without the combined efforts of staff, the Board of Directors and their Prudential Shareholder, the Government of Sierra Leone. For this, we extend our profound gratitude.

He furthered that on the back of many successes, RCBANK is introducing a new Core Banking System to ensure their customers have a safe landing for the digitalisation programme.

“Yes!! We are going fully digital for a better customer experience,” he enthusiastically assured stating that on that note, they trust their customers will enjoy branchless and better access to finance and financial access points.

The result oriented Managing Director stated that their aim is to boost growth in the financial sector in Sierra Leone through supporting the process to enhance financial literacy, financial depth, financial efficiency and financial inclusion.

“We continue to be proud of the fact that our ideals are also centered on customer and community relations,” he said with elation.

Dr. Walton Ekundayo Gilpin said as they enter into a New Year, let all be reminded that the COVID 19 Pandemic is still very much around us and no one knows what type of strain is lurking in the shadows.

“Let us endeavour to wear our face masks in public spaces, wash hands and observe all health protocols,” he gave words of caution and on behalf of the Board, Management and Staff of Rokel Commercial Bank, wished all a happy and prosperous 2022.
