Rokel Commercial Bank Sierra Leone Becomes Sole Banker for Lands Ministry

At its Youyi Building offices on the 30th September 2020  the Ministry of Lands, Housing and Country Planning  engaged the Management of Rokel Commercial Bank Sierra Leone Limited in order to discuss issues relating to revenue generated by the Ministry on behalf of Government.

Dr. Denis Sandy, the Minister of Lands, Housing and Country Planning in his welcome statement to representatives of the Bank, appreciated the Management of RCB for their efficient monetary policy and customary services to the nation.

He intimated them about the achievements made so far with the support of His Excellency President Julius Maada Bio in fulfilling his manifesto promise to the people.

Dr. Sandy disclosed that to ensure effective financial management and enhanced transparency the Ministry would be exclusively dealing with Rokel Commercial Bank. “As a Ministry we have decided to continue using Rokel Commercial Bank for all our payments including permits, freeholds and leases,” he stated.

Deputy Minister, Rex Bonapha, urged the Bank’s Management to strengthen their corporate social services and called on them to provide the Ministry with a separate teller and if possible open a branch at the Ministry’s office for quick payment of monies.

Acting Director of Survey and Lands, Tamba Dauda, explained to the delegation the mechanisms being adopted within the Ministry including the provision of serial numbers which would be identified by the cashiers collecting the monies.

The Ministry was represented by top officials including the Permanent Secretary Mr. Israel Jigba, Director Kai Banya, Director Cooper, Director Barnard Jusu, Senior Accountant Ginnah, Head of Procurement Kamanda, Deputy Secretary Mr. Komba and Senior Human Resources Manager George Koryama.

The Deputy Managing Director of RCB, Emmanuel Bundor, conveyed greetings from his Boss and introduced his delegation to the Ministry.

He thanked the Honourable Minister of Lands, Housing and Country Planning, Dr. Denis Sandy, for the trust and confidence his Ministry has bestowed on them as a financial institution.

“We are aware that the Ministry has been banking with over five different Commercial Banks in the country but for the Ministry to now chose us as its sole banker, is something our MD takes very important and we will do our best for the development of the country.”

“We are very much pleased for this type of collaboration as we see this as a partnership agreement between the Bank and the Ministry,” he noted.

He added: “As a Commercial Bank that deals with money, our customer service is efficient and encouraging to the general public. We want to be the leading Financial institution in this country”

“We are going to provide your Ministry with a customized cage with two tellers at the Ministry’s office for payments; and a teller at all of our regional branches in the country”.

The DM promised the Ministry that very soon the process will be done and it would be launched in a short ceremony next month.

Rokel Commercial Bank was represented by top management officials including, Adiadi S. Koroma Head of Operations, Madam Mariama Jajua and Osman A. Amara Project Manager.
