During a Press Conference that was convened on the 9th March 2022 at Caritas Sierra Leone Office at Kingtom, within St Edwards School Compound ,officials of the Sick Pikin Project updated the Press and by extension the general public that they have succeeded in facilitating the treatment of three children with congenial heart diseases to India for treatment.
The Lead Campaigner of the Sick Pikin Project, Ishmail Alfred Charles, informed all present that they would like to disclose that the health status of three children that were sent to India for medical treatment is good. He continued by disclosing three children will be departing on the 9th March 2022 to India for the same purpose and they are eight months old Haafizah Lahai, 3 years old Abubakarr Mohamed Kamara and 7 years old Mary Sesay all to undergo surgery.
Rev Father Peter Konteh offered prayers for the children who will depart to India for treatment.
In giving an overview of the Project, Ishmail Alfred Charles stated that they have been sending children overseas for specialized treatments in cases were such cannot be accessed in the country.
He said through donations from members of the public they have successfully saved the lives of many children who hitherto may have lost their lives.
Ishmail Alfred Charles thanked Government and donors as well as passers-by who drop money in their project boxes for their contributions.
He called on well-meaning Sierra Leoneans to be part of the thirty thousand Leones monthly donation drive or to even part with Five thousand Leones towards the project further maintaining that if they have five hundred committed donors then that could go a long way to help provide funding that will facilitate their work in saving the lives of young Sierra Leonean children.
Parents of the beneficiaries or children who will be travelling for treatment expressed profound gratitude to the Sick Pikin Project for coming to the aid of their children.
Father Peter Konteh also encouraged Sierra Leoneans to render assistances in order to put the organization on a proper stead to extend help to other ailing children that might require similar medical attention.
