Sierra Leone Cultural Ambassador to China Bags 2 More Awards

At a colorful ceremony held on 24th September 2020, Sierra Leone Cultural Ambassador to China with vast philanthropic experience, Mariatu Kargbo aka Maliya, was presented with two awards for her voluntary work in Beijing during the COVID-19 pandemic. The two awards are Model Resident and Prevention Pioneer.

The awards were presented by the Dongrun Fengjing Community of Chaoyang District to Mariatu Kargbo aka Maliya for her unstinting efforts as a volunteer working to prevent the transmission of the virus in her local community.

Following interviews, the officials selected Maliya as one of the top three volunteers along with citizens of Thailand and China.

Speaking at the event, Maliya said, “I am humbled by these awards and have learned a lot about unity from the Chinese people during this time. I will do my best to continue to make Sierra Leone and Africa proud and give back to the world.”

Mariatu Kargbo aka Maliya one of Sierra Leone finest representative and a hope for Africa has been praised and recognized for her tremendous effort in the fight against Coronavirus in China.

Her official recognition and thanks came when the Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (CPAFFC) met with a group of African volunteers who helped in fighting the Coronavirus in China.

On May 14, the group was invited to visit the CPAFFC to share their stories and expertise in combating COVID-19.

Maliya, a Sierra Leonean artist in Beijing, raised funds for China, served for a Beijing community to prevent and control the pandemic and shared China’s anti-epidemic stories on social media platforms.

Maliya, also used the opportunity to congratulate all those who made her what she is. She thanked the CPAFFC Chairman and Dongrun Fengjing Community of Chaoyang District among others for recognizing her efforts in the Covid-19 fights.

She promised to continue doing her best for the Sierra Leone – China Friendship to grow stronger and stronger.
