SLPP in Spotlight for Not Holistically Fighting Corruption -Political Commentator Opines

By Amin Kef Sesay

In life it is important to note that people are entitled to their various individual opinions and should be free to express them as long as they do not infringe on the fundamental human rights of others. This medium believes in providing the space for divergent views to be disseminated on a plethora of issues as a way of broadening the democratic discourse.

According to seasoned political commentator, it is painful for him to learn that the Commission of Inquiry indicted former APC Ministers on allegation of mismanaging five billion Leones within a ten year time frame, while the Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP) is on record of spending an unprecedented amount of eight billion Leones for just a single football match in 2021.

He continued to question why the COI indicted the former APC Minister of Education and the former Deputy Minister on Sports, without calling them for an investigation.

“The seeming hate and smear campaign orchestrated by the present political administration  is a recipe for social and political resentment,” he maintained adding how the pervasive injustice and propaganda blackmail on people who have worked so hard to protect their image in public life is not good for national good governance.

The Political Commentator furthered that the former Minister of Education, Dr Minkailu Bah, who never worked in the same Ministry with the former Deputy Minister of Sports, Al-Sankoh-Conteh were jointly indicted on the same allegation and to pay the same amount of money on issues they weren’t investigated for.

He bemoaned how they have been given a travel ban, their bank accounts have been frozen and their pensions have been blocked for a crime they didn’t commit.

According to the commentator,  innocent family of those indicted are suffering from the injustice of the SLPP only because their parents worked for the APC and coming from the northern region.

“Whiles they are chasing the APCers, their Ministers and officials are swimming in corruption as the so called kangaroo ACC is doing nothing,” he lambasted.

He said the SLPP Ministry of Sports and the NSA are yet to say a word about the 8 billion Leones which Francis Ben Kaifala and team remain quiet situation which he described as a show of two face and high double standards.
