The Washington Metro Chapter of Sierra Leone People’s Party North America (SLPPNA) Branch emerged as Best Supporting Chapter in the 2023 SLPPPNA Regional Award under the dynamic, authentic and democratic leadership of Chairman Fatmata Dausy Wurie on the 10th and 11th March 2023 at the Academy Ballroom in New Jersey
As the most supporting Chapter, both within the SLPPPNA region and beyond, the SLPPNA Washington Metro Chapter has finally been placed in its rightful position in the region. Though a bit over due, the authentic and dynamic Chairman of Washington Metro Chapter, FD Wurie received the long awaited award with ecstasy, elation and exultation, amidst a thunderous applause and ovation from Team Washington .
Chairman Fatmata Dausy Wurie, in a snap chat with this medium intimated that it was a indeed a great day for her to emerge in that position. She disclosed that her political career dates back to 1998 when she was the Organizing Secretary of the Washington DC Metro Chapter, a position she held for one year and later went unopposed as the Women’s Leader for five years stating how it was difficult during those years because the SLPP was in opposition adding that she embarked on a rigorous recruitment and retention campaign to get members to attend meetings and take part in other activities disclosing how she did that by undertaking to celebrate birthdays of members and devising the best Chapter members award which according to her greatly worked.
Commissioner Braima Moiforay, Secretary General of the Electoral Commission, SLPP Washington Metro Chapter, stated that he does not have adequate words to express his profound appreciation for the unprecedented award adding that though it was a bit late , but it was timely and given at the appropriate venue —the 2023 SLPPNA Regional Convention.
He maintained that Team Washington will ever remain grateful to Desmond Pessima’s SLPPNA administration for the prestigious award to Washington Metro Chapter.
Commissioner Braima Moiforay also thanked, Namisa Kramer, Secretary General, SLPPNA, for her selflessness and hard work saying she deserves the award and more.
The entire Washington DC Metro Chapter extended profuse thanks to the Chairman of the great Washington DC Metro Chapter, Fatmata Wurie, for her astounding leadership saying the award was well deserved and was earned through the dynamic and relentless efforts of their Chairman in recruiting and mobilizing their members to support the activities of the region and by extension the President’s agenda.
Another personality who was commended was, Kadie Ballah Jalloh,
a two term former Regional Women’s Leader, who served the SLPPNA Region with distinction. She was commended for the decisive roles she has been playing to move forward the agenda of the Chapter.
