Trade & Foreign Affairs Ministries Host Accelerated Growth & Investment Summit

The Ministry of Trade and Industry in collaboration with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Relations hosted an “Accelerated Growth & Investment Summit” in Freetown. This programme was geared towards registering their commitment to continue make Sierra Leone an attractive haven for serious investment ventures.

The two-day summit which was linked  up through Sierra Leone’s Ambassador to Russia, H. E. Mohamed Yongawo, brought together key representatives of a consortium of major international investors including those from Ivovy Capital, and Allied Identity.

It was discovered byt his medium that these groups and  their participating partners, have together mounted an investment portfolio worth $3.7 billion to be pumped as Foreign Direct Investment into the Sierra Leone economy.

The areas identified for investment include Energy, e-Health (a healthcare ‘Silicon Village’ location to be determined), e-education (an international internet ‘Silicon Valley’ to be located in the Bonthe district), Infrastructural development, Tourism, etc.

The two-day summit which took place in Freetown ended on the 17/09/20 with firm commitments to commence work on identified projects in the shortest possible time.

This investment venture, when fully unfolded, is expected to create thousands of jobs for Sierra Leoneans and open up more opportunities for institutions and companies in varied sectors.
