Five Coup Suspects Apprehended in Guinea to be Extradited to Sierra Leone

In a new development, the Ministry of Information and Civic Education announced on Thursday, June 20, 2024, that five fugitives connected to the failed coup of November 26, 2023, have been apprehended in Guinea. The arrest emanated from a joint operation carried out by the Guinean and Sierra Leonean security forces.

The individuals arrested were: Major F.S. Kamara, Major Patrick Abu Odendeh Sesay (a.k.a PAO), Major Juana Kabba, Fatmata Koroma
and Major I. Bangura.

According to the Ministry, these five fugitives will be transferred to Sierra Leone in the coming days in order to be interrogated by law enforcement authorities.

It further pointed out that the Government of Sierra Leone expressed its gratitude to Guinean forces for their cooperation and assistance. Additionally, the Government acknowledged the crucial role of citizens, both at home and abroad, in providing tips and information that have been instrumental in the ongoing efforts to bring those responsible for the failed coup to justice, the Ministry also stated.
