United Bank for Africa (Sierra Leone) Limited has announced a leadership transition following the resignation of its Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Mohamed Alhajie Samoura, effective September 30, 2026.
The announcement was contained in a Press Release issued by the bank in Freetown on September 25, 2026.
According to the statement, the Board of United Bank for Africa (Sierra Leone) Limited has accepted Mohamed Alhajie Samoura’s resignation and expressed appreciation for his dedicated service to the institution.
Following his departure, Executive Director Francis Esiemokhai is expected to serve as Acting Managing Director, subject to the requisite approval of the Bank of Sierra Leone.
The leadership transition comes as United Bank for Africa (Sierra Leone) Limited continues its operations in the country, serving individuals, businesses and communities through its range of banking services.
In its statement, the bank reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining trusted, innovative and customer-focused banking services across Sierra Leone.
United Bank for Africa (Sierra Leone) Limited did not provide further details regarding the circumstances surrounding Mohamed Alhajie Samoura’s resignation or indicate when a substantive Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer would be appointed.
