On the 8 October 2019 the Sierra Leone Ambassador to the Republic of China, Ernest Ndomahina introduced certain investors from China to the Minister of Energy to invest in Energy and the Railway.
Introducing the company’s team, Ambassador NDomahina stated that the revamping of railway in the country is something President Bio discussed with him some time ago. As Ambassador, he stated, he engaged the railway company two months ago in order to bring them to Sierra Leone. He continued that since an electronic railway works with electricity, he found it necessary to bring the company to the energy sector so that the President’s vision in that direction can be realized.
Addressing the Ambassador and the company, the Minister of Energy, Alhaji Kanja Sesay welcomed them and thanked the Ambassador for such a laudable venture. The Minister, his Deputy (Dr. Taylor) and Permanent Secretary (Mr. Momoh) educated the team on the procedure of expression of interest, having a MoU with the Ministry and furnished the team with guidelines that the company appreciated so much.
The Minister was magnanimous enough to appoint focal officials for the project in the Ministry (Project Delivery Manager – Madam NGozi Beckly; Lines & Bumbuna 2 Project Manager – Mr. Cyril Grant) and further provided the company with the Energy Ministry’s list of key priority areas for it to navigate through.
The leader of the Chinese Company thanked the Minister and team for a wonderful welcome and said they are more than willing to work in Sierra Leone as they will go back and start putting modalities in place to meet the conditions set by the Government.
