Chinese Embassy Co-Hosts Symposium on Bilateral Relationship

On January 29, 2021, the Chinese Embassy in Sierra Leone co-hosted a symposium on China-Sierra Leone Friendship: Past, Present and Future with Sierra Leone-China Foundation through video link.

More than 100 participants, including H.E. Chinese Ambassador Hu Zhangliang, Hon. Minister of Labour and Social Security Alpha Timbo, H.E. Sierra Leonean Ambassador to China Ernest Mbaimba Ndomahina, DIG of Police Mrs Elizabeth Turay, dignitaries from various MDAs, representatives from civil society organizations, universities, youths, the fourth estate as well as the Chinese community in Sierra Leone attended the virtual event.

Ambassador Hu made a keynote speech reviewing the development courses of the Communist Party of China, China-Sierra Leone relationship and China-Africa cooperation.

The other speakers shared their views on China-Sierra Leone cooperation in the fields of political mutual trust, economic and trade, and fighting against COVID-19 together.

All the participants averred that China’s success was a blessing for the world, the Communist Party of China enjoys wide popularity in China and wholeheartedly support of the Chinese people because it is people-centered and serves the people wholeheartedly, China-Sierra Leone friendship is an invaluable asset of our two countries and should be further cherished and strengthened. The symposium envisaged that as the year 2021 marks the 50th Anniversary of establishing diplomatic ties between China and Sierra Leone, there would be more fruitful results of our bilateral cooperation.
