Controversial Sierra Leonean Rapper to Spend 9 Years in Prison

Controversial Sierra Leonean rapper , who was standing trial four counts of charges, including robbery and assault, Alhaji Amadu Bah, popularly known as LAJ was on Friday 17th March 2023 been sentenced to 9 years imprisonment by High Court Judge, Hon. Justice Adrian Fisher who also ordered him to pay compensation to the victims.

His sentence came in the wake of him been found guilty on Monday, 13th March, on all four Counts brought against him.

Initially, It was alleged that in August 2022, Boss LA broke out a fight at the Leonco Fueling Station on Congo Cross where he beat up the pump attendant and got away with her sales.

The State asked for 10 years for each of the three counts and 4 years for the fourth count, grievous bodily harm.

LAJ made a very emotional appeal on his own behalf, which moved the court and maybe Justice Fischer.

Dressed in White shirt and blue jean, LAJ looked like a reformed man.

Here are some of the quotations from his plea: “This has been the longest 9 months of my life”

“I am not a thief, I am a giver, I don’t take from people. I have learnt my lesson”

“I stand before not as LAJ the icon, but as Alhaji Amadu Bah, a human being. A human being who makes mistakes, a human being who hangs out with the wrong people, a human being who was at the wrong place at the wrong time,”

“I a say sorry to my fans, I say sorry to my family, I say sorry to the attendants. I take full responsibility of my action. I have learnt my lesson” Being famous, being a musician has caused me so much trouble. I just want to live, I am dying to live”

This was a very emotional courtroom, very few eyes were dry.

Justice Fisher has ordered the court to stand down not until 4pm when he gave his final decision.
