Director General of Hunan Broadcasting System Expresses Intent to collaborate with SLBC

In a bid to foster international cooperation and strengthen the media landscape in Sierra Leone, Deputy Minister of Information and Civic Education, Yusuf Keketoma Sandi Esq on Monday September 25, 2023, has called for robust collaboration between China’s Hunan Broadcasting System and the Sierra Leone Broadcasting Corporation (SLBC).

Addressing a delegation from Hunan Broadcasting System at the Ministry of Information and Civic Education conference hall in the Youyi Building on Monday, September 25, 2023, Deputy Information Minister Sandi extended gratitude to the Hunan Broadcasting team for selecting Sierra Leone as a potential partner. He highlighted the deep-rooted history of collaboration between China and Sierra Leone, emphasizing the excellent relationship that has blossomed since President Bio assumed office. This relationship has been marked by substantial Chinese investments in various sectors, notably mining.

Deputy Minister Sandi took a moment to underscore the significance of President Bio’s previous role in information and broadcasting, revealing that both he and the Minister are dedicated to the transformation of the national broadcasting corporation. He stated, “It is our fervent wish that Hunan Broadcasting will extend its support to SLBC in crucial areas such as digital migration, infrastructure development, exchange programs, and capacity building. We aspire for SLBC to be the driving force behind the broadcasting transformation within our nation.”

In response, the Director General of Hunan Broadcasting System, He Hui, expressed the delegation’s sincere intent to collaborate with the Sierra Leone Broadcasting Corporation. He conveyed their purpose of exploring investment and partnership opportunities in Sierra Leone, while also providing insight into Hunan Broadcasting’s extensive history of successful partnerships in various countries.

“I extend a warm invitation to you, Minister, and your team, to visit Hunan Province for a firsthand experience of the operations and capabilities of Hunan Broadcasting,” Director General He Hui announced, further highlighting the willingness of Hunan Broadcasting to foster a lasting partnership.

As part of their visit, members of the Hunan Broadcasting delegation are expected to tour the SLBC complex and gain insights into its facilities, paving the way for potential future collaborations that could significantly enhance Sierra Leone’s media landscape.
