ECSL Boss Hands Over Certificate of Return & 2022 Annual Report to President Bio

President Julius Maada Bio was awarded the Certificate of Return by the Electoral Commission of Sierra Leone (ECSL) Chairman, Mohamed Konneh, in State House, Freetown, on July 19, 2023. The Commissioner praised the peaceful and credible nature of the June 24 elections, affirming that the results truly reflected the will of Sierra Leonean voters.

During the ceremony, the Chief Electoral Commissioner also presented the ECSL’s 2022 Annual Report to the President congratulating him on his re-election as President of Sierra Leone. The report highlighted significant milestones achieved by the Commission, including the conduct of elections for Paramount Chiefs and successful voter registration.

President Bio expressed his gratitude for receiving the Annual Report and the Certificate of Presidential Election, acknowledging the Commission’s dedication and hard work during the multi-tier elections. He emphasized the importance of democracy as an ongoing process and called for national unity.

The President also extended thanks to the government, ECOWAS, political parties, and partners for their support and collaboration in ensuring the success of the peaceful elections. He urged the Commission to continue their efforts in upholding transparent and credible electoral processes in the future.
