The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Elephants of Malema and Malema Queens, Foday Anthony, has said that the idea to form both teams came about two years ago, mentioning the community team that was existing in the 90s.

He noted that as descendants of Malema chiefdom, Kailahun district, they decided to revive football in order to have representatives in both the male and female Premier Leagues in the country.

The CEO announced that they have qualified for the female premier league despite being new to the competition. He thanked the Malema Football Association (MAFA), the Malema Descendants Association (MDA), and Dr. Samuel Gibao, Commissioner General of the National Revenue Authority (NRA) for their continued support to the team.

He added as part of efforts to fulfill CAF’s Club Licence Regulations, they now have their Club House and Secretariat for both male and female teams. “They are running effectively and the players and administrators are making good use of the facilities. Their match venue is presently hosted at the Daru playing field,” he disclosed.

CEO Anthony furthered that shortly they are going to do a formal presentation of the Malema Queens to Kailahun district stakeholders including Sahr Jusu, the Financial Secretary at the Ministry of Finance, the Paramount Chief in Kailahun, and other chiefdoms and football stakeholders to take full ownership of the team.

In the ongoing Eastern Region Football Association Super Ten League, the Elephants of Malema are presently 3rd with 11 points after 6 matches. They will host Sky Eagles of Kono on Saturday 19th March, 2022 at the Daru Town field.
