Police Investigate Forceful Initiation & FGM in 17 Year -Old’s Tragic Death

In a harrowing incident that has shocked the community, 17-year-old Kadiatu Bangura of Bubuya Village in Tonkoh Limba Chiefdom, Kambia District, lost her life after being forcefully initiated into a secret society where Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) is practiced. Kambia Police Division Information Officer, Claudius Moses Gray, provided exclusive details in an interview with SLBC reporter Ibriham Sorie Kamara.

The tragic incident has raised serious concerns about the continued practice of FGM, a harmful tradition that poses significant risks to the health and well-being of young girls. Kadiatu Bangura’s death has prompted swift action from the authorities, with three suspects currently in protective police custody at the Kambia Police Divisional headquarters.
