SLFA Fires Back at Sports Minister

By Amin Kef Sesay

On the 30th October 2020 the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) stated that it has come to their attention that the Minister of Sports, Ibrahim Nyelenkeh, has once more made baseless and ill-considered statements towards the administration of SLFA.

It was highlighted that the Sports Minister on the 30th October 2020 during the  98.1 FM Radio Good Morning Show accused the FA of “sabotage” in relation to the Premier side , Kamboi Eagles, quest to participate and represent Sierra Leone in the upcoming CAF Interclub Competition.

According to SLFA, the fact of the matter is that the club failed to meet the CAF Club License Requirement which is a minimum obligatory requirement applicable to all clubs in Africa wishing to compete in CAF club competitions.

They furthered how the rules and regulations are publicly available on the CAF websites and SLFA had communicated related information to all Premier League clubs in Sierra Leone.

“Repetitive misinformation of this nature compromises the development of football in Sierra Leone to which the SLFA is dedicated,” SLFA bemoaned.
