Spark Media Completes 16-District Tour to Showcase the Beauty of Sierra Leone

Spark Media, a cutting-edge video production company based in Sierra Leone has on the 27th February 2024 ended a tour to 16 districts  in their bid to showcase the positive image of Sierra Leone through its beaches, mountains, people, and cultural diversity.

Earlier, on February 2nd, 2023, the video production company embarked on a journey across the 16 districts of Sierra Leone to create a documentary showcasing the country’s beauty, following the vision the Chief Executive Officer, Joe L. Aruna, to rebrand Sierra Leone by sharing positive stories. The documentary will highlight Sierra Leone’s culture, beaches, mountains, people and cultural diversity.

The team travelled to Bo, Kenema, Kailahun, Pujehun, Bonthe, Kambia, Port Loko, Bombali, Karene, Falaba, Tonkolili, Kono, Freetown, Western Rural and Western Urban taking drone footages and interviewing people about their districts.

The Spark Media team, led by Issadin Kamara, the Managing Director and former Manager at Zoom Studio and one of Sierra Leone’s famous You Tuber, was inspired by the need to showcase the beauty of Sierra Leone through the ‘Tourism for All’ Campaign by the current Minister of Tourism and Cultural Affairs, Nabeela Farida Tunis. The one-year campaign is focusing on National Domestic Tourism in Sierra Leone, with a monthly thematic spotlight.

Based on the inspiration, Spark Media, on Thursday, February 15th, paid a courtesy visit to the Minister of Tourism and Cultural Affairs, Nabeela Farida Tunis at her Kingharman Road office to discuss a possible partnership proposal in a bid to project the positive image of Sierra Leone.

Managing Director of Spark Media, Issadin Kamara expressed excitement after the 16 district tour by stating:

“We want to express our thanks and appreciation to our CEO, Joe L Aruna for investing his resources and vision in us and to my entire team at Spark Media and Media Consultant, Sallu Kamuskay, for traveling across the 16 districts to showcase the beauty of Sierra Leone. We are now ready to tell the positive stories of Sierra Leone through our culture, beautiful beaches, mountains, people, and cultural diversity. We hope Sierra Leoneans will embrace this positive move by young people and promote it more than any other entertainment in the world because this is what defines us”

Solomon J. Keikura (Head of Programs) during an interview thanked the Minister of Tourism and Cultural Affairs for showing interest to partner with them at Spark Media and also commended the Director of Cultural Affairs for facilitating the appointment.

Sallu Kamuskay, a Media Consultant and Founder of Salone Messenger who was hired as Public Relations Expert for the documentary noted that traveling across the 16 districts of Sierra Leone opened his eyes to how united Sierra Leone can be if we choose to share positive stories. “I would like to thank and appreciate our traditional leaders, District Council Chairmen for all their support and contributions to make this work happen. Over 3 three weeks traveling across the 16 districts of Sierra Leone, interacting and interviewing incredible traditional leaders, District Council Chairmen and all the amazing testimonies they disclosed about their districts gave us hope for a united and better Sierra Leone,” he noted.

The team from Spark Media included Emmanuel A.J Cole (Cinematography and Video Editor), Benjamin Thoronka (Graphics Designer and Professional Photographer), Solomon J. Keikura (Head of Programs), Mary Hectoria Kargbo (Admin Officer) and Sarah Lamboi.
