Timber Logger Kills Bike Rider & Leaves 2 Pillions in Critical Situations

A commercial biker, identified as Morrison Lebbie alias ‘Disgun’, a resident of Foido Mawie, is reported to have died by misadventure between Maloma and Gbinka Villages in the Njahn Chiefdom in Kailahun District on the 14th October, 2020.

According to a Goldtree worker, Ensah Lamin Kamara, who was recording the GPS of a nearby farm he came to the scene upon hearing a boom sound followed by a loud cry.

He said he was informed that the bike rider was carrying two pillions from Maloma to Gbinka when a tree that was being logged fell on them, killing him on the spot, leaving the two pillions in critical situations.

He furthered that the power saw operators then ran for their lives.

Further investigation from the Daru Police Station revealed that the operator identified as Osman Sawaneh, a resident of Maloma village reported himself to them, where he is currently helping them with the investigation.

The two pillions whose identities are not yet known at the time of going to Press were rushed to the Nixon Memorial Hospital for treatment.

Further investigation revealed that they are both in a state of coma.
