Public concern is reportedly growing over renewed allegations surrounding Amid S. Mansaray, a politically connected figure whose name has increasingly been linked by some residents of the Wilberforce community to violent and controversial incidents said to have raised broader questions about accountability and justice.
Fresh concerns particularly emerged within sections of the Wilberforce community, where some residents privately allege that Amid S. Mansaray has remained beyond prosecution because of what they describe as his political influence and perceived close association with Sierra Leone’s ruling party, the Sierra Leone People’s Party. According to those making such claims, Amid S. Mansaray is regarded as a strong supporter of the party, with some residents alleging that his influence may have discouraged accountability, although no official evidence has been publicly presented to substantiate such assertions.
Community residents claimed that fears intensified following public discussions over allegations reportedly linked to Amid S. Mansaray, including a fatal stabbing incident in Wilberforce in early December 2025 involving a man identified as Amadu Kamara. According to accounts from residents, the incident reportedly emerged from a dispute allegedly connected to a betting ticket, although authorities are said to still be investigating the matter and no official charges have yet been announced.
Among the allegations widely discussed by residents was the reported kidnapping of a pregnant woman in November 2025, a case that reportedly attracted national attention and sparked public outrage. Tensions reportedly escalated after a journalist covering the incident was arrested and detained under circumstances some media practitioners described as controversial.
The detention reportedly prompted criticism from journalists and press freedom advocates, who alleged that authorities focused on intimidating media practitioners instead of ensuring transparency in the handling of the investigation.
Community members further alleged that beyond the publicly discussed incidents, there are several other matters reportedly associated with Amid S. Mansaray that many people remain too afraid to discuss openly. Some residents privately claimed that fear and intimidation have created an atmosphere in which people avoid speaking publicly out of concern for their personal safety.
“People are genuinely afraid,” one community source reportedly disclosed on condition of anonymity. “Whenever Amid S. Mansaray’s name comes up in conversations, many people prefer to remain silent because of the allegations surrounding him and fears about possible consequences.”
Residents further stated that repeated death threats allegedly associated with Amid S. Mansaray have particularly affected Mohamed Y. Mansaray, his younger brother, who they say has become increasingly fearful about returning to Sierra Leone following a dispute related to him selling a house believed to be family property.
According to people familiar with the matter, Mohamed Y. Mansaray left Sierra Leone in 2019 and relocated abroad before disagreements reportedly surfaced over the house he sold. They disclosed that tensions only began to rise in 2020 after some relatives, especially his elder brother, Amid S. Mansaray, allegedly discovered that the house had already been sold, creating anger and disagreement.
Some residents emphasized that Mohamed Y. Mansaray was already living outside Sierra Leone before the aforementioned criminal incidents later reportedly linked to Amid S. Mansaray allegedly occurred.
“Mohamed Y. Mansaray left Sierra Leone in 2019,” one source reportedly stated. “The issue surrounding the house only surfaced in 2020. Everything people later started hearing about Amid S. Mansaray allegedly happened after Mohamed Y. Mansaray had already travelled. He was not in Sierra Leone.”
Family members further claimed that the disagreement over the property later escalated into alleged death threats against Mohamed Y. Mansaray, with relatives alleging that he has been warned never to return to Sierra Leone.
“Family members keep mentioning the allegations surrounding Amid S. Mansaray because they are worried about what he may be capable of doing to his younger brother,” one relative reportedly said. “Mohamed Y. Mansaray believes coming back home could place his life at risk.”
As concerns continue to deepen, residents and people familiar with the matter say fears surrounding Amid S. Mansaray remain a source of anxiety within the community, while Mohamed Y. Mansaray reportedly continues to worry about his safety amid alleged death threats tied to the house dispute. No conviction has been secured in relation to the allegations mentioned and Amid S. Mansaray has not publicly responded to the accusations.
