Reports reaching this press from Western Area rural district states that a student, Musa Ibrahim Conteh, who was in police custody, is wanted by the police for escaping from their custody whilst undertaking medical attention at the Hospital, after being arrested on allegation of being caught in the act of homosexual activity on the beach, an illegal act in the country.
According to police sources Musa Ibrahim Conteh was taken from the Lakka Beach in an unconscious state, after he had been beaten by some youths in the Lakka beach area, on allegation of being caught in the act of having sexual intercourse with another man, Samuel Sesay, a forbidden act in the eyes of the public, and illegal in the country’s laws. Gay is also described as satanic by both religious faiths in Sierra Leone.
It was disclosed that Musa Ibrahim Conteh and Samuel Sesay were caught red-handed in a secluded area on the beach, among the rocks, The police could not say who beat Musa Ibrahim Conteh or Samuel, who, apparently, is reported to have died from an injury to his head, after falling on a sharp rock whilst trying to escape from their assailants.
However, during investigations mounted by this medium in the Tokeh community, where Musa Ibrahim Conteh is said to have come from, it was disclosed that both Musa and Samuel were students they were about to take their senior secondary school exams and aspiring to go to university. Family members explained that the Musa Ibrahim Conteh and his friend were students at the Magburaka Boys Secondary School in Northern Sierra Leone, and were on holidays in Freetown.
They however noted that they had no idea that he was gay. They further maintained that Musa Ibrahim Conteh told them that he was going to the Lakka Beach to enjoy his Easter holiday with some friends.
Meanwhile, information got from some youths around the Lakka Beach area, where the incident took place, indicates that Musa Ibrahim Conteh was seen in the company of the deceased (Samuel Sesay), frolicking on the sand, but that they disappeared shortly and were only discovered among the rocks along the banks of the beach. According to them, Musa Ibrahim Conteh and Samuel Sesay were caught red-handed having sex.
These youths then disclosed that some other group of youths, who were also walking around on the beach, stumbled on the scene and raised the alarm, which alerted others. The angry youths then descended on them, physically manhandling them. It was then explained that Samuel Sesay, in his attempt to escape from the wrath of the angry youths, slipped and fell, hitting his head on a sharp rock, eventually losing his life.
As we furthered our investigations, it was revealed by family members at Tokeh that eye witnesses saw Musa Ibrahim Conteh being taken by the police from the beach in an unconscious state, and that he had serious injuries and was bleeding. He was thus taken to the nearest hospital for medical attention.
Hospital sources say that Musa Ibrahim Conteh was brought into the facility in an unconscious state, but was later stabilised by the health workers and was undergoing treatment. They further confirmed that he was hand-cuffed to his bed and a police officer was stationed at his bed side. As his hands were swollen, they explained that they asked the police to take the cuffs off his hands to allow free flow of blood. They also confirmed that during a commotion in the next ward, the police watching Musa was called to deal with the situation, and on his return, he discovered that Musa Ibrahim Conteh had escaped. This story was also corroborated by the police, who have now declared Musa Ibrahim Conteh wanted.
In a telephone interview with an anxious family member, it was disclosed that the police had raided their residence at Tokeh in search of Musa Ibrahim Conteh. They also confirmed hearing on radio that he is now wanted by the police and that information leading to his arrest will be rewarded. They further expressed concern for his whereabout and his safety, as they have heard that his partner, Samuel Sesay, who is now dead, is the son of a prominent political figure in the country, Hon Sam Sesay, and he has vowed to take his revenge on Musa Ibrahim Conteh, whom he accused of luring his son to such satanic act, which led to his death.
As we go to press the whereabouts of Musa Ibrahim Conteh is still unknown and the police has mounted a man-hunt for him, as well as Hon Sesay, father of Samuel Sesay (the deceased).
