Heroes Awards 2023 Recognize Key Personalities for Outstanding Efforts & Selflessness

Held at the Bank of Sierra Leone Complex at Kingtom, in the West End of Freetown, the inaugural Heroes Awards 2023, organized by Heroes Magazine, was graced by eminent personalities and individuals from various walks of life.

Among esteemed individuals that were honoured with prestigious awards  were Dr. Ekundayo Walton Gilpin, Bishop (Dr) Frederick Sidikie Abu Koroma,  Mohamed Fuad Dabor, Abdulai Caulker. These outstanding figures were recognized for their exceptional contributions to society.

The awards ceremony comprised 25 categories meticulously prepared and was geared towards showcasing the remarkable achievements of individuals ranging from Government officials to entrepreneurs, highlighting their dedication to national duty and humanity.

Dr. Ekundayo Walton Gilpin was bestowed with the prestigious “Most Influential Banker of the Year” award, recognizing his significant contributions to the banking sector. His Grace, Bishop (Dr) Frederick Sidikie Abu Koroma was honoured with the Social Justice Award, acknowledging his unwavering commitment to advocating for equality and fairness in society.

Addressing the audience, the Chief Executive Officer of Heroes Magazine, Moses Fembeh, emphasized the importance of recognizing individuals who are selflessly serving humanity regardless of their societal status. He underscored the essence of social justice, emphasizing the equitable distribution of wealth, opportunities and rights for all.

Mohamed Fuad Dabor, Director General of NASSIT, received the “Outstanding Leadership” award in recognition of his exemplary leadership qualities and dedication to ensuring the welfare of pensioners. Similarly,Abdulai Caulker, Head of National Security, was honored with the Lifetime Leadership Award for his steadfast efforts in promoting peace and security during critical periods, such as the 2023 election period.

Other notable awardees included Mohamed Alhajie Samoura, recognized as “Excellent Banker of the Year” for his outstanding performance, and Brookfields Hotel, named “Hotel of the Year” for its exceptional service. Ms. Theodore Mensah, CEO of Shikagold, was honoured as the “Successful Entrepreneur of the Year” for her innovative contributions to the cosmetology industry.

Tyrillia Gouldson was celebrated as the “Successful Model of the Year,” while PC Koblo Queen Kabia II received the Paramount Chief of the Year award for his significant contributions to education, health, and agriculture in Marampa Chiefdom. Additionally, Jalikatu Amy Mustapha was honoured with the Heroine Distinguished Service Award for her philanthropic endeavours and dedication to empowering youth.

It was stated that the recipients of the Heroes Awards 2023 exemplify resilience, passion, and commitment in their respective fields, serving as beacons of inspiration for the nation.

Further mentioned was that their tireless efforts towards societal betterment serve as a testament to the spirit of heroism ingrained within the Sierra Leonean community.
