In the bid to educate and support disadvantaged girls in Sierra Leone, Angels 2 Angels, a non-governmental organization has donated school items worth millions of Leones to 100 pupils. The donation exercise took place during an event that took place at Biz Bazaar. The donated items comprise Text and Exercise Books, Uniforms and Bags of Rice.

In her address to the beneficiaries, parents and guardians, founder of Angels 2 Angels, Fatu Quinie Sesay, disclosed that the organization is a US based non-profit entity established by a group of visionary women with the avowed aim of providing educational opportunities for girls particularly in Sierra Leone and Africa in general. She further noted that her organization seeks to equip young girls with skills and tools that will empower them to put them at a vantage position to have a better and brighter future.

She added that the donation of the school items to the 100 pupils, mainly girls, is a fulfillment of the vision of the organization as presently they are sponsoring 100 girls across the country all of them in 46 different schools in Freetown, Bo, Kenema, Tombo and Makeni, going forward to state that Angels to Angels strives to help break the cycle of poverty through education.

“A2A seeks to empower girls by providing them with educational scholarships and funding their education pursuits  in order to go through the primary school level,” she intimated  reiterating how they are keen on making girls become confident to pursue their dreams and become role models for others to emulate. She pointed out that her organization is aware of the fact that some girls drop out of school at the primary school stage before proceeding to the secondary school level stressing how the chances of  re-entering the educational system  could be very slim.

She admonished pupils to take their studies serious underscoring how education is the key to success.  “Education is a process of learning that one goes through in order to become somebody in society,” she inspired.

In that vein she encouraged them to take the opportunities they are offering in order to achieve their dreams and become great people in society who will in return give back to society.

She expressed her warmest appreciation to the United States of America Board members namely: Dr. Kathy Forlenza and her daughters Kate and Stefanie, Mrs. Stephanie Pangia and her daughter Sarah, her daughter Michaela and other generous sponsors for their tremendous financial contributions they have been rendering to her organization to undertake their interventions in various communities in the country.

Mariama Kamara, a beneficiary thanked Angels to Angels Sierra Leone and the USA membership Board for the kind gesture which she noted was not only important but timely as during the reopening of schools, purchasing school materials was a herculean task for parents and guardians. She said with the support of the school materials such will enhance her learning ability.

She called on other humanitarian entities to support the organization in order to capacitate them to continue to implement programmes or projects.

Alhaji Conteh, a parent of one of the beneficiaries, expressed his deepest appreciation to the organization for the gesture, adding that with their support it will lessen the financial burden on him as a parent.

He lamented that it cost him a lot of money to buy school materials for his daughter but said with the donated items he will now use his money to settle other responsibilities in the home.

He admonished parents and children to make good use of the items given to them. He also thanked Dr. Kathy Forlenza and her daughters Kate and Stefanie, Mrs. Stephanie Pangia and her daughter Sarah, Madam Fatu Quinie Sesay and her daughter Michaela for the support they have been providing.
