The Ministry of Information and Civic Education is gearing up for its most significant event of the year, the National Town Hall, set to feature President Julius Maada Bio. The event aims to highlight the Government’s achievements one year into President Bio’s second term.

Scheduled for Tuesday, July 23rd, the Town Hall will take place at the Bintumani Conference Center. It seeks to facilitate a direct dialogue between President Bio and the citizens of Sierra Leone, promoting accountability and transparency.

“The President wants to talk to you, the citizen, about one year of progress with the Big 5. He will be talking to you directly and will take questions from across the country,” Minister of Information, Chernor Bah announced during the Weekly Government Press Conference.

The event has garnered significant attention from media networks nationwide, with major broadcasting networks agreeing to televise the Town Hall live. Additionally, community radios across Sierra Leone will also air the event.

The Town Hall will address four key themes: Foreign Affairs, the Economy and the Big 5, Peace and National Cohesion and a Civic Call to Action.

The Ministry has already set up channels for citizens to submit their questions directly for the Town Hall. A web link (https://bit.ly/3Wrvem7) is live, and a toll-free line, 818, is active on major mobile networks for question submissions.

Over the past year, the Ministry of Information and Civic Education has worked to expand civic engagement by facilitating crucial dialogues between citizens, experts and Government officials.
