“I saw potential in Mary,” Tuma recalls. “I supported her journey through law school and beyond, offering guidance and opening doors to international conferences across Rwanda, South Africa, Algeria, and the UK.” Tuma’s generosity knew no bounds, covering Mary’s expenses and visas, and eventually, facilitating her entry into prestigious legal positions.
However, their relationship soured during a crucial trip to the United States for a global forum. “Mary’s demeanor changed abruptly upon arrival,” Tuma explains. “Instead of focusing on official duties, she expressed personal desires incompatible with the trip’s purpose.” Matters escalated when Mary unexpectedly left their accommodation without notice, causing concern for her well-being and disrupting official responsibilities.
“After reporting her disappearance and ensuring her safety,” Tuma continues, “I received a disrespectful message from Mary, followed by a cascade of defamatory statements circulated on social media.” These actions not only undermined her trust but also tarnished their professional rapport, impacting Tuma Adama Gento Kamara’s leadership roles within the NRA and the Bar Association.
Despite her efforts to reconcile and uphold professionalism, Mary’s conduct persisted in defiance of established norms and mutual respect. “Her actions were a betrayal of trust and a disregard for the opportunities afforded to her,” laments Tuma. “My commitment to mentorship and empowerment was met with ingratitude and misconduct, jeopardizing both personal integrity and organizational trust.”
As Tuma Gento Kamara concludes her account, there is the importance of clarity amidst ongoing challenges and media scrutiny. “This narrative isn’t just about personal grievances,” Tuma asserts, “but about safeguarding the principles of justice and accountability in leadership.” Despite setbacks caused by Mary’s actions, Tuma remains steadfast in her dedication to professional ethics and the pursuit of equitable opportunities for all.
