Cowbell Gives Support to ‘Street Child’ Marathon in Makeni City

One of the brands marketed by Premium Divine Trading Company Limited, a food distribution company that operates as an agent for Promasidor Holdings, a leading distributor of quality food products in Sierra Leone, Cowbell has supported the Street Child-Sierra Leone’s tenth edition Marathon.

The support by the company was aimed at promoting healthy lifestyles as thousands of Sierra Leoneans from diverse backgrounds showed up to participate in the Marathon which was held on Sunday 30th April, 2023 in Makeni City, Northern Province of Sierra Leone.

The Street Child Marathon, which ended in Makeni, attracted Sierra Leoneans from all walks of life as well as 150 foreign participants and offered a variety of athletic categories aimed at promoting a healthy lifestyle, with participants having the choice to walk, run, or even cycle in the 5 KM, 10 KM, Half Marathon and Marathon.

At the end of the Marathon, John T. Bangura, a 16-year-old promising athlete of Sierra Leone took the first position in the full marathon category of the Street Child Marathon Sierra Leone’s tenth edition.

He emerged as the first to finish the 26-kilometer event beating numerous local and international competitors, including Jose Ord Hume, who has participated in a total of 175 marathons globally and all ten editions in Sierra Leone.

John T. Bangura is a Senior Secondary School pupil , who is attending the Sierra Leone Muslim Brotherhood Senior Secondary School (SSS3) in Makeni. He joined Papaya’s Athletics Camp after Coach Alpha Kamara scouted him following his excellent performance in their annual school sports meet.

John T. Bangura expressed his delight in winning the full marathon, his first-ever participation in such an event.

He plans to represent Sierra Leone in major international events and bring more honor to the country. Street Child Sierra Leone awarded him with NLe 2,000, while one of the event’s sponsors, Premium Divine Trading presented to him cartoons of Cowbell products as an additional prize.

John T. Bangura encouraged his colleagues to participate in future events expressing the conviction that they too can showcase their talents and succeed.

Speaking to this medium, the Country Director of Street Child Sierra Leone Kelfala Kargbo said Street Child of Sierra Leone is proud to host the 10th Edition of their annual marathon of which he described this year’s marathon as very unique.

He said that the marathon is been used in order to get people interested in their work as an organization and that has been achieved over the years.

Kelfala Kargbo concluded by extending an appreciation to the sponsors of the event including the Premium Divine Trading Limited through its Cowbell Brand for their support towards the success of the marathon.

The Marketing Lead of Premium Divine Trading Limited, Ansu Alexander Charles, said that Premium Divine Trading Company Limited’s partnership with Street Child Sierra Leone in making the Marathon a reality created an opportunity for the company to continue  its massive education on healthy eating habits by availing their products to actual and potential consumers, the Cowbell nutritious package, to enable them and their families to enjoy good nutrition through the consumption of assorted Cowbell products and Miksi Chocolate Drink that was also sampled during the event.

He said that the company has been supporting the people of Sierra Leone of which he revealed that the company during the month of Ramadan doled out 500 cartoons of Cowbell products to a total of 10 mosques nationwide including the Waterloo Central Mosque, Prophet Issa Mosque Devil Hole, National Central Mosque etc.

The Marketing Lead said that Premium Divine is a quality food company and they are committed to ensure that everybody enjoys good food and that the company has been embarking on supporting various activities in the country in order for the company to continue on its massive education on healthy eating habits in the country.

He stated that Cowbell products come in 14g sachet, 20g sachet, 360g sachet and 400g tins for the milk.

Also, cowbell food drinks package sizes are 40gs for the Coffee, Strawberry, Coconut, Choco-Malt and Cowbell Mocha. They are all produced in Ghana by Promasidor Ghana Limited for export sales to some West African countries including Sierra Leone.

Ansu Alexander Charles used the opportunity to inform all that the Company also distributes and markets, Onga, Miksi Chocolate and coffee drinks, Kremela, and Yumvita, the latter being an infant cereal with milk also containing wheat, rice, and maize.

He stated that as a company they can guarantee the availability of quality food products for consumption by everyone with Cowbell products.

Ansu Alexander Charles concluded by appealing to all to always buy the quality food products of Premium Divine Trading Company Ltd especially Cowbell milk because it is enriched with all the necessary nutrients needed for growth in the family.

Climaxing the ceremony was the presentation of cartoons of Cowbell milk by the Marketing Lead of Premium Divine Trading Limited, Ansu Alexander Charles and team to winners ranging from 1st, 2nd and 3rd positions of which 10 cartons of Cowbell 20g was given to all those who took the first positions, 8 cartons to all those that came 2nd and 6 cartons to all those that came 3rd in all categories for male and female.
